Sustainable backpack made from uniforms
As a true Upcycle Hero you get a free Tumi with your backpack. These Tummies are derived from the word "Mitumba" which means second-hand clothes. They are made from clothing that has been deposited in ACT's collection bins and upcycled into plush toys. Through these "Trashionistas" ACT tries to collect and upcycle textile waste.
The Upcycled Uniform Backpack is a versatile and robust backpack with one large compartment and two smaller closable pockets (one on the outside and one on the inside). The distinctive pockets come one-on-one from the pants of the uniforms. Furthermore, the backpack has some fantastic features such as:
- 85% recycled materials: 1 uniform and 1 pair of jeans (processed in the lining to make the bag extra sturdy)
- No toxic fumes from combustion
- Lower CO2 emissions through one-to-one reuse of materials
- Good wages for ACT employees
The backpack is available in 3 colors: dark blue (Navy) green and beige (Savannah)
The inside of every backpack is different, this is made of colorful Kitenge fabric and remains a surprise! :-)
The backpack is made from old worn uniforms, so it may be that there are traces of use on the backpack here and there.
